Senator J. William Fulbright from Arkansas founds a scholarship program for students and professors from abroad.
1961
Less than a decade after the first exchange programs with the United States, our organization, the Fulbright Society of Cologne, Germany, was founded by former Fulbright scholars.

1989
Beginning of long-term programs with England
Our organization begins to expand its programs. In addition to the activities in the US, other counties begin to take part in the exchange programs.
1990
Beginning of long-term programs with Ireland
1991
Beginning of exchange programs with Eastern Europe (Poland, former Soviet Union - TRANSFORM-Program)
The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and the end of the East-West conflict offered new opportunities for exchange programs in Eastern Europe. Our program with Poland continues today.
1993
Name changed to Partnership International e.V.
Start of sponsoring the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program (CBYX) initiated by the German Bundestag and the United States Congress.
